Since this piece goes under the laces of the shoe and attaches to the ankle wrap. Having an extra, or a few extra plastic inlays, you can leave it in the shoe.
Otherwise, you have to take it out from under the laces to wear it with a different style shoe.
By having 2 inlays, you can leave one in a pair of athletic shoes and one in a pair of dress/work shoes.
You just wear the same ankle wrap and clip it to the inlay!
